Opening Ceremony x Where The Wild Things Are

In anticipation of the new Spike Jones film, with a soundtrack that includes the Arcade Fire and Karen O from the "Yeah Yeah Yeah's" comes Opening Ceremony's clothing and jewelry collaboration.
In September's W magazine they profiled Pamela Love's Where The Wild Things Are charm bracelet complete with claws and traps made exclusively for Opening Ceremony as well as hinting that Mr. Jones himself would be creating pieces for this outfit.
I think the hoodies and dresses capture fall fantasy and are definately wearable. Plus I like that fact that there are his and her gear ( I imagined it would only be for boys but happened to see the pics on Opening Ceremony and was refreshed).
I love the OCx WTWTA collab, the Max suit reminds me of the brother when he was 5. Coincidentally, today is his birthday! Happy Birthday Aaron!

I i-D or U: Chanel Iman, Sessilee Lopez, Jourdan Dunn and Arlenis Sosa

The much anticipated i-D has finally arrived! Pretty Young Things i-D issue is dripping in ready-to-wear and haute couture glamour with some 80's excess that wish you go out and wear the body-con dresses on the cover and place the finishing touches on your makeup in the light of Dominique Deveraux ( a la Dynasty).

Sold Out: Yves Saint Laurent Frozen Plum Sheer Sensual Gloss Stick

Someone. Help. Me. Please.

After going to Bloomingdales in Soho to do some Fall look research, I wanted to purchase the YSL Frozen Plum Gloss Stick as I have a more summery toned one, Frozen Plum would be the nice introduction to Fall. Plus after testing it a while back- I have not stopped thinking about how much I love the texture, weight and of course- color!

Well, everyone one else sure does love it as much as I do! If not more! this is a frenzy- its SOLD OUT. Not on Sephora.com, Sephora on Fifth Ave, not in Bloomies, ysl.com, am I going to have to call the YSL store?

Susan, Soho Bloomie's YSL business manager assured me that Frozen Plum would be restocked on Thursday. Ok now, no pushing come Thursday.

It's Chanel, My Belle!: The body suit of my dreams

I've had this on-going love affair with something so futuristic, beautiful, powerful yet very very impractical for my budget- the Chanel cashmere and silk bodysuit and leggings from the Fall Winter 2009 RTW collection.
For the price of a 2000 Honda Accord, or about 3 months rent- you can have this killer outfit- and I want it! Where will I wear it?, I dunno- I guess I could treat it as long johns and it can insulate me in the winter when its 2 degrees outside. I'll proudly wear a smile knowing that something warm, fuzzy and blessed by Karl is being worn.
What I really wonder is, why was this created in the midst of a recession Karl?! Its not fair! Its not like I could have afforded it anyway- but why couldn't this come out say 2 years ago when you did the whole "Americana Blue Jean" RTW show for Spring 2008.

Topshop, H&M, make my wish come true at 95% off.

Top 10 MAC looks from NY Fashion Week Spring 2010

With NY Fashion week, in like a torrential down pour and on to London without so much as a drizzle, we are left with 6 months to plan how we will pull of public displays of sweats along with short-shorts and lots of bold blues, all while planning our beauty regime for Spring 2010 accordingly, right? After all, the makeup for next season was a whole new experience! Blue lips at Doo.ri. Stenciled eye designs at AsFour. Yes, we are dawning on a new decade we still don't have flying cars but we can look good while waiting for them or a taxi...

Here are my top 10 MAC looks from New York Fashion Week Spring 2010:

Marcel Marceaux et Marc Jacobs for Spring 2010?!

Spring 2010 Marc Jacobs show was an ode to theatrics though the inspiration looks straight up like Marcel Marceau!
I'm curious to see what products were used from NARS as François was exclusive to Marc Jacobs this season again.

Can't wait for more pics!

Grape Escape Bold Lips!

I was playing around this weekend and decided to put my NARS Damage to use while enjoying all the NY fashion week coverage and being inspired by Spring 2010's jewel-tones.. why not get the party started early! Plus, this lip is completely wearable now.

This is the first time in a long while I have used a lip liner, the one I used is Chanel's Nude. Then next I applied NARS' Damage lipstick- a sheer grape and topped it with Chanel's Imaginaire.
Here are the pics!

Chanel Jade and Jade Rose Nail polish pics!

As modeled with Lavande- Bot.

Compared to MAC's Peppermint Patti, Chanel Jade has shimmer ( mint green sparkly flecks) where as Peppermint Patti is very creamy sans shimmer.

Jade on Left, Peppermint Patti on Right

I have yet to open Jade Rose but it will be the most wearable of the two in the Chanel collection.
It too has shimmer ( baby pink sparkly flecks) and is pinker than Chanel's Ballerina .

Orange you happy to see me?

I saw Eniko at Korres on Thursday night, I assure you she isn't this Orange.
Who did the makeup at Erin Wasson X RVCA?!

Fashion's Night Out Wrap-up

Its been a exhausting week, waving good-bye to summer, seeing the sunset at 7pm, the crisp-ness of waking up in the morning.. hello Fall! oh and New York Fashion Week!
Let's not forget, Anna Wintour rallied to troupes to 3 Boroughs to celebrate Fashion's Night Out. While I mediocre disposable funds, I did manage to enjoy some sights, sounds and sludge ( rain!) along the way:

- 11:00am at Chanel in Soho to get Jade Nail Polish
- almost Ran into Philip Lim who was doing final touches to his window display on Mercer
- 6:00 pm Opening Ceremony= Zoo! People pouring everywhere, I feel underdressed and stressed. no sightings
- 6:30pm back to Soho for Chanel Manicure- line way too long
-Kids are lined up along Mercer.. heard Kid Cudi was around.
- 7-9pm- B-day party break in Mid-town
-9:00pm off to Bergdorf Goodman where Andrew Andrew is spinning ( I love those two!)
-9:30pm walking down to Saks, pass Versace and can't figure out whats going on
-9:45pm @Saks, no freebies but see girls with YSL manifesto totes ( its that time again?!)
-10:15pm go to YSL- no more totes
-10:30pm see Sarah Brown , Beauty Director at Vogue in Barney's - almost say something but am too frozen.
-11:00pm Zoo continued at Opening Ceremony- scored some free Cinnamon icecream from Van Leeuwen ice cream

Don't know if this night was a success- didn't see too many shopping bags :(
What was your FNO like?

How to care for your Summer Jelly Sandals

Having purchased the new loves of my life- the Givenchy Jelly Sandals earlier this summer, they have accumulated as much mileage as my brother’s Honda Accord. Plus, since I wanted the clay/ taupe color, my sandals have been scrubbed with what New York City’s Subways, sidewalks and parks have to offer ( mmm, gross-ness).
I know a vast majority of Jelly Sandal holders them in a deeper color, use this method but with out bleach.

This past weekend I was on a serious cleaning spree, and while the apartment got a good washdown, so did my sandals.

How is this done? Well first my mom clued me into diluting bleach with my favorite all purpose cleaner- Dr. Bronner’s soap. Again, If you have dark or black sandals- I suggest using this method without bleach!

I filled a bucket with ¼ cup of bleach and ½ cup of the castile soap and the rest was water.
Soak the sandals for 5 minutes and start to scrub with a scrub brush- I use a spare nail brush or an old face scrubbing brush.
Rinse water over the sandal and air dry- I like to set my sandals at an angle with the heel vertical against the wall and the front of the shoe on the ground in a \ motion so that the back of the sandal laces will dry quicker.

After a few hours, I had clean new sandals, fresh laces and no NYC icky-ness.

Do you have a method for cleaning your summer sandals?

Top 5 NYFW Show Looks I'm Looking Forward To

I CAN'T WAIT!

Here are my top 5 shows I'm looking forward to- Can't wait to see the Make-up and new products from NARS, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Stila and ( new) Bryant Park Sponsor- Maybelline.

5. Ruffian- Umm, can I get my hands on MAC's Ruffian Red Pah-leeze? I'm dying to see comparisons to Russian Red.

4. Rachel Roy- For all came the Noir Levres courtesy of Bobbi Brown in the form of strong burgundy and black lips. Will cheeks become a main focus? After all, Rachel has confessed to loving the Pot Rouge in Velvet Plum.

3. Anna Sui- Boho-Hippie to Ziggy Stardust inspired wigs with metallics. Somehow it all works for my fave models Naomi Campbell and Karen Elson alike. What will she bring this time? and most importantly, will she recreate the makeup for her line?

2. Herve Leger- For the past few seasons, NARS has shown highlighted accents around the eyes and bronzed skin for HL- will Francoise and Co. step it up a notch for Spring '10? After all, shouldn't its the dawn of a new decade.

1. 3.1 Philip Lim- Spring '09's looks had me at my knees. Everyone looked beautiful. Inspiration all over the place and the introduction of NARS's Multiple Bronzers and Grenadines eyeshadow. Last season was the concealer laced lips and eyeliner. NARS+ Philip Lim= MAKEUP MAGIC

Backlash on the Noir Lèvres?

I know in the past many of you have sported this look- the My Lips but Lighter. Maybe it was back when you your nails were decked out in Hard Candy’s Sky nailpolish and listening to “ Miss World” or “I’m So Into You” ( or maybe both). While getting your Hole and SWV on, the nude and or pink lips were accompanied by either MAC’s Spice, Chestnut or Wet and Wild’s 666 lip liner to make the zinc lips look “good”.
Never the less, everything comes full circle- so now we have Rhianna in the Vogue Italia supplement doing the same, rocking the super light lip of the 80’s and 90’s that reminds me of camp surf movies- a la North Shore.
In any case, I ‘ve tried and failed at this look three too many times. First it was the trial and error with MAC’s Chai after it was noted that many people used this lipglass as a nude- fine by me though not for me unfortunately.
Seeing the VI editorial is beautiful, and it helps that was shot in black and white but in real life, the look would look sour.

Could this be the “backlash” ( or “Blacklash”) on the fall Noir Lèvres? Or is this attempt to be “ different” in the change of season?

Lavande-bot with Chanel Wild Tulip lipstick

Just had to share my love for Chanel's Wild Tulip Hydrabase Lipstick, I found it just recently and its a great rival to Chanel's Imaginaire Glossimer- basically, its the lipstick form of the gloss. A beautiful sheer plum berry that give the lips a much needed kick!

Yes, it is full of iridescence but is not at all "Granny Frosty" which is quite impressive as my peeve with Chanel lippies is that they lack actual cream formulas ( just like their Glossimers- Giggle and Glaze are seriously their only cremes, can I get a witness?). A sheer bit goes a long way- actually for me it made it through my vanilla tea and some yogurt for breakfast, even when I used some Smith's Rosebud Salve as a base prior to applying.

It's a top pic for an on the go Happy Hour lippie.
